A neat fact which people may not realize is that technically you can quickly use the eBay API, as a demo, proof of concept, or personal lookup tool, *without* doing any real programming. Once you register with eBay Developer to get your free API keyset, you can actually learn to build an entire Shopping API call into 1 single URL (like, in Notepad or Word) and simply paste it into your browser to get live eBay data as a response. I do it all the time to grab data on the fly for my own quick research/lookup purposes. The API call in the "step by step guide" link above includes such a URL API call. While the result's not immediately ready for web display, it's a great real-life example to demonstrate how to access the eBay API for beginners.
